My Mini Tour

I have been on  a very small and quite specific Mini UK tour over the last couple of weeks focusing on the North West. A fortnight ago I went to see an old school friend and his wife and had my first ever night out in Manchester. W had a very scary taxi ride at the start of the evening with a driver who was not bothered if he was driving on the road or on the pavement. When we arrived at the first pub people must have thought I was the Pope because I kissed the tarmac!

It was a great night out though and if you are heading to Manchester I would suggest you vist The Oast House, which is believe it or not is a proper real ale pub in the city centre with  live music from a man who puts his own unique spin on classic songs,  then go to the Tiger Lounge which is a tiny club where you get given old school penny sweets on the way in, and which plays only 60′s, 70′s and 80′s music, really cool, fun and relaxed place I loved it in there!

Then last weekend I went to see a mate in Liverpool. I arrived there Friday evening, he met me at the train station, then it was straight to the supermarket to buy beers and pizza to accompany the re-watching of a TV interview I did with John Nettles a few years ago, which was very much the entertainment for the evening.

Neil Quigley meets John Nettles

Then on Saturday it was off to the City Centre for a few drinks (which included watching a couple of hundred teenage girls screaming outside a hotel where Justin Bieber was staying, )before I headed to Goodison Park to watch Spurs lose to Everton. The night finished in a Pub that had a Karaoke Night with loads of Everton fans singing football songs at me and pointing because they had beaten my team. That aside it was a great weekend.

I love Liverpool. One time when I was there before we got the night bus home and for the whole journey the whole bus was singing Beatle’s songs and everytime someone got of at their stop the whole bus gave them a standing ovation, that is still one of my favourite journey’s home after a night out.

An update on my stand up comedy plans. I have finished writing some routines and will be trying them out at a secret venue next month, it is so secret it fact that even I do not know where it will be at this stage. Have fun!
