The Road to Funny

This week I had a great time at the first night of my Stand Up Comedy Course which ends with a nice 5 minute routine performed in front of a paying audience, no pressure then. It is kind of like doing an educational course with a practical exam at the end with the main difference being while I dreaded my exams at school mainly because I had not done enough revision I honestly can’t wait for this one, even though I still have not written the first line of my set yet.

During the first fun packed three hour session I found myself complimenting and then critising the person sitting next to me’s shoes, pretending to be on a speed date with another man (arkward) and playing a policeman who had to go from the most confident cop in the world to the least confident in around two minutes. I have probaly not played around and messed about so much since I was in play school and I loved it.

That said everything we did had a comedy related meaning and performance point to it, which to be honest because you were concerntrating so much on the task and laughing at everybody’s efforts you only really realise what they were and what they mean when you think about them after the session has finished, then just when I thought I could not like it any more it seems likely we will end up in the pub for a drink after we finish every week -result. Really good group of people to on the course to from teenagers to people in their sixties. We are going to have a lot of fun over the next eight weeks and looking forward to learning so much more from the brilliant Logan Murray.

I never like to do anything by halves or in a low key way so happily there is a production company making a documentary about the comedy course, so there were cameras rolling and there will be every week plus they will also be filming the big gig night on Sunday 1st July, rather than worrying me that just makes me more excited about it, but then again I am just a big show off I guess. I want to see if they will let me to the voiceover for it to, well if you don’t ask you don’t get.

If you would like to find out more about the Tringe Festival or the Roving Comedy Night that I am a part of and will be perfroming at check out this link http://www.get-stuffed.biz/tringe/ The tickets for the Roving Comedy Night are going quickly so it you want to see me in action I would get them sooner rather than later.

Bye for now another update will be coming you way in another couple of weeks. Off to London next weekend so I will try and do some more celebrity spotting. Have fun Neil.
